Architecture

Dear Students,

I would like to welcome you to the Architecture Program of IUS, which is one of the largest programs with the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and offers students the opportunity to study at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through the first cycle BSc in Architecture and second cycle MSc in Architecture. In addition to this, the Architecture Program offers an undergraduate double diploma with Istanbul Technical University.

The program benefits from and utilizes the skills and expertise of an international faculty drawn from around the world. Expertise garnered in both professional and academic contexts are brought together in curricula and syllabi that will challenge, stimulate and reward our architecture students.

The courses offered are comprehensive and varied, allowing students to acquire all the necessary skills and knowledge to prosper in the professional world. Our Architecture Program introduces students to all the core elements of architectural training; design skills are complemented with a comprehensive understanding of construction techniques; the role architecture plays in shaping our urban fabric will be understood and embraced and the role the architect and architecture plays within historical and theoretical contexts will be discussed. In addition to this, students have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to solving the increasingly important issue of sustainability within architectural practice and urban development.

In addition to the professional skills required of an architect, successful students will acquire the soft skills which will allow them to effectively apply their technical knowledge within a competitive commercial environment. Through the employment of innovative teaching methods and assessment criteria, students will acquire and ultimately demonstrate skills which will benefit them throughout their future professional careers.

Successful completion of professional architectural training offers the graduating student a world of challenges, opportunities and rewards unrivalled in the academic and professional world. Here at IUS, through our architecture program we open the door for new students to a realm of possibility and fulfillment.
